  • Steampunk really is an international cultural phenomenon. Although most of us are only aware of Steampunks in Western Europe and the English speaking parts of the world, and I do my best to introduce my readers to our sisters an brothers in Eastern Europe, you can find Steampunk all over the globe. And this is why this cinematic gem exists: Ahnectha is a Turkis short film directed by Can Eren, a student at Bilgi University, Istanbul. It is almost entirely silent and has a dreamlike, poetic quality to it. In fact, it reminded me quite strongly of the works of Sergei Paradschanow. Voiceless Room also features a remarkable and very effective visualisation of silence, broken silence and noise. Just see for yourselves.
